Karen Kay “Roberts” Kinserlow, 69, died July 25, 2012, in O’Fallon, Mo.

She was born March 14, 1943, in Springfield, Mo., daughter of Joshua L. and Pearl L. “Carter” Roberts.

She and Ernest E. Kinserlow were married in Waynesville, Mo., on Oct. 4, 1969.

She was raised in Upton, Mo., and graduated from Houston High School, class of 1961.

At the age of 22, she enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served from 1965 to 1968. For several years following, she worked at Ft. Leonard Wood in the clerical department. She was the first female veteran to become a member of the local Eagles Club in Houston.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 15 years; and seven siblings, Del Roberts, Leo Roberts, Maxine Roberts, Faye and Darlene Roberts and infant twins (a brother and sister) Roberts.

Survivors include one daughter, Dana and son-in-law, Gary Camp, of O’Fallon, Mo.; one granddaughter; two sisters, Edna Laxton of Springfield, Mo., and Shirley Houghton of O’Fallon, Mo.; and two brothers, Billy Joe Roberts and Don Roberts of Houston, Mo.

Burial services with full military honors are 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, in Hickory Ridge Cemetery on Highway FF in Bucyrus, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent or brought to Hickory Ridge Cemetery on the day of services.

At Karen’s request, her daughter, Dana, will give the graveside eulogy. Friends and family are welcome to attend and share their own farewells. She will be loved and missed by those who knew her.
