Ethan Kelley had three rushing touchdowns and caught another score as the Houston High School JV football team completed its 2012 season Monday night with a 31-8 victory at Cuba.

The Tigers (4-3) snapped a three-game losing skid and finished with a winning record under the leadership of coaches Todd McKinney and Marty Merckling.

“I’m excited about the younger kids and their enthusiasm, aggressiveness and willingness to play football,” HHS varsity coach Billy O’Neil said. “They are a pretty competitive group.”

Kelley had rushing scores of 43, 96 and 16 yards. He also scored on a 43-yard pass from sophomore Ty Wilkins.

Tanner Smith added a third-quarter rushing score for the Tigers, who added the game to the schedule after a matchup with Salem was canceled earlier in the season.

Defensively, Kolby Walker had an interception and Trevor Merckling recovered two fumbles for the Tigers.
