Houston police handled several investigations in the last week.

Officers with the Houston Police Department issued citations for underage alcohol consumption to teenage boys on each of the last two days of September.

On Sept. 29, Dalton R. Edington, 17, of 17393 Primrose Drive in Houston, was issued a citation for minor in possession of alcohol by consumption following an incident at about 12:10 a.m.

After an off-duty officer reported that two cars were racing down Ozark Street, an on-duty officer located the two vehicles and made contact with the drivers. The officer smelled alcohol and performed portable breath tests. Edington tested positive and was ticketed, while the other driver – a 16-year-old male – tested negative. Both were warned about racing and released to their parents.

The following day, Ty A.J. Huff, 19, of 10800 Turley Road at Plato, received citations for minor in possession of alcohol by consumption and speeding after a traffic stop at about 2:45 a.m. Highway 17 at Airport Road.

An officer made the stop after observing a red Ford Mustang cross the centerline and travel at a high rate of speed. After making contact with the driver – Huff – the officer smelled alcohol and field sobriety tests were conducted. Huff was taken to the Texas County Jail.

In other police matters, two officers tending to a traffic stop Oct. 5 at about 11:40 p.m. on First Street found that an occupant of the vehicle had an active Butler County warrant for property damage.

Richard W. Hampton, 42, of 109 Third St. in Houston, was arrested and taken to the Texas County Jail, where he was unable to post $50,000 bond and held pending extradition to Butler County.
