A local group is hosting a nighttime 5K Saturday through the streets of Houston.

“Light Up The Darkness” will include a bonfire, music and costume contests. It is hosted by the local youth ministry Undivided Hearts.

More than 120 people pre-registered to walk or run in the event. Organizers said participants may also register the day of the race. The cost is $25 and includes a LED bracelet.

Registration is 6-7:30 p.m. at the Undivided Hearts building on the corner of First and Chestnut streets. Costume judging starts at 7:30 p.m. Walkers and runners will leave at 8 p.m.

Prizes will be awarded for brightest, most original, team and best-dressed kid. Organizers say no scary costumes or inappropriate outfits will be allowed.

Organizers encouraged the public to attend, even if they don’t run. There will be chili, hot chocolate, coffee, smores and more available to purchase.

All proceeds benefit Undivided Hearts, which for nearly a year has hosted a Saturday night worship services for teenagers.
