Deer are on the move, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol urges caution.

A St. Robert woman received injuries in a crash late Tuesday night in northwest Texas County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said Samuel T. May, 30, was operating a 2007 Ford Mustang that swerved to avoid a deer on Highway 17 north of Roubidoux Creek, ran off the road and struck a ditch.

A passenger, Elizabeth N. Balk, 30, was to seek her own treatment.

May was arrested on a DWI charge.

Officers said both were wearing seat belts. The vehicle sustained extensive damage.
