Virgle Cordell Renfrow, 87, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at his home near Summersville.

He was born March 11, 1925, near Summersville, son of Marion M. and Grace Mae Hodge Renfrow.

In his younger years he enjoyed horseback riding, going to and calling square dances and tending to the family farm. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time on the farm and tending to his yard, especially his flowers. He loved to visit with family and friends.

He was baptized in the spring of 2004 at Alley Springs. He was recently attending Grace Baptist Church in Summersville. He enjoyed gospel music and attended various gospel singing’s the area churches held.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Virgle Cordell Jr.; a granddaughter; three sisters, Elizabeth Armstrong, Edith Rolfzen and Edith Hampton; and a brother, Daniel T. Heiney

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Lynn Blackburn of Shawnee, Okla., Beverly Gwen Counts of Winona and Rebecca Ann Staples of Eminence; five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members.

Services are 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at Bradford Funeral Home with the Rev. Emmett Bradford and the Rev. Richard Dement officiating. Burial will be in Summersville City Cemetery.
