Five Houston High School athletes were named to the all-district teams in their respective sports.
Taylor Franklin, Lizzy Swindell and Kayla Kelley represented the HHS softball team, which won the program’s first-ever district championship, on the Class 2 District 3 team. Alexa Ichord was named to the first team in volleyball and teammate Desiree Venable was a second team selection.
Franklin, a junior shortstop, led HHS in batting average (.635), home runs (four), RBIs (25) and stolen bases (21).
Swindell, a sophomore first baseman, was second on the team with a .611 batting average and 21 RBIs.
Kelley, a senior pitcher, logged every inning for the 11-7 Lady Tigers. She also hit .422 with 12 RBIs.
Ichord, a senior, led the HHS volleyball team in kills (215) and assists (525).
Venable, a junior, had a team-high 443 digs as the starting libero. She was also among the team leaders with 39 aces.
