Jack Darrell Johnson Sr., 87, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind.
He was born Sept. 23, 1925, in Middleton, Ind., son of William Harold and Dessie Irene Hendricks Johnson. He and Gilda Madelein Johns were married Nov. 28, 1946, in Missouri.
He began his lifetime of ministry at Peace Chapel in Plato. He pastored many churches in Missouri, Indiana and Kentucky. He was retired, but still doing chaplain work at the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 60 years, Madelein, on Jan. 30, 2007.
Survivors include three sons, Jack Darrell Johnson Jr. of Granite City, Ill., Lloyd Harold Johnson of Jefferson City and Ivan Daniel Johnson of Columbia; a daughter, Charlotte Irene Johnson of Farmersburg, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at Hickory Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Russell Kane officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
