The Plato High School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams both advanced to state by winning the Class 1 District 4 meet on Saturday.
Lexi McNiel broke the girls’ event record and finished first with a time of 19 minutes, 50 seconds. David Kinsman paced the Plato boys with a first-place finish in 17:23.
The district meet was held in Willow Springs. The state meet is Saturday in Jefferson City.
Members of the Plato cross country teams are McNiel, Shayln Barton, MacKenzie Morrison, Kathryn Kidd, Kora Freeman, Becca Baker, Samantha Keeton, Kinsman, Jake Kinsman, Jalen Supancic, Keagan Adams, Owen Sullins, Dustin Richardson, Brandon Capowski, Ianin Mincey, and Dillon Davis.
The teams are coached by Justin Copley and Terri Price.
