Sales tax revenue reported in Texas County in 2014 hit a new benchmark: More than million. Texas County has collected a sales tax since the early 1980s.

Revenue from the City of Houston’s one-cent sales tax increased about 3. 6 percent during the latest monthly distribution, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The tally was $47,201, which is an increase of $1,680 from the same period a year ago. For the year, $537,638 has been generated. That’s up about $6,338 for the year.

Merchants also collect two, quarter-cent sales taxes for streets, sidewalks and utility work. Each contributed about $11,453. That’s up about $617 on each.

An eighth-cent sales tax also goes toward debt repayment on a fire truck.
