Virgil Dewayne Postlewait, 66, died Saturday, Nov. 17 2012, at Texas County Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

He was born Jan. 27, 1946, in Bucyrus, son of Leslie and Hazel Postlewait. He and Sherryn Hickcox were married May 20, 1980.

He grew up in the Bucyrus area and graduated from Houston High in 1965. He immediately entered the Army and served in Vietnam from 1965-’67.

He was married while working as a janitor at Success School.

He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to spend a day on the river or in a deer stand. He loved playing softball with his family and friends. He coached baseball team for his own children and many in the area.

He loved his family and various pets, including his cat, Noelle.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Lois Mings, and Joyce Schaefer.

Survivors include his wife, Sherryn Postlewait of the home; a son, Dustin Postlewait of Bucyrus; a daughter, Lindsay Postlewait of Springfield; five brothers, Leslie, Jerry and Larry of Bucyrus, Robert of Houston and Ed of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sisters, Donna Petty and Shirley Webber of Plato; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were Wednesday, Nov. 21, in Union Chapel Cemetery with Albert Weber officiating. Services were under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
