Alice Elizabeth Kelley, daughter of the late Luther and Osie Ann (Collins) Robertson, was born Oct. 9, 1929, in Alice, Mo., and departed this life Dec. 23, 2012, in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mountain Grove, Mo. She was 83 years of age.
Alice lived her entire life in the Alice community in Texas County and attended the Alice school. Alice was united in marriage to Lee Roy Kelley on Dec. 20, 1963, in Cabool, Mo. Three children were born to this union.
Alice and Lee enjoyed farm life for over 40 years. They done custom haying, field work, milked cows, raised goats, pigs, guineas and chickens, and everything that was needed to take care of their family. Alice enjoyed taking care of her animals and the family smoked their own meat.
Alice was a true homemaker. She loved taking care of her family, cooking, canning, baking, gardening, quilting and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Kelley on July 14, 2011; two brothers, Arthur and Clarence Robertson; and by one sister, Velma Riley.
She is survived by one son: Samuel Kelley and his wife, Tracy, of Cabool, Missouri; two daughters: Lesa Morris and her husband, Clyde, of Ava, Missouri, and Mary Roderick and her husband, Kevin, of Cabool, Missouri; one sister: Ida Walker and her husband, Melvin, of Houston, Missouri; eight grandchildren: Alison Burton, Jacob Kelley, Haley Kelley, Sarah Kelley, Lucas Kelley, Lorraina Roderick, Karla Roderick, and Amy Roderick; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.
Funeral services for Alice Kelley were held 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at the Craig-Hurtt Chapel with the Rev. Don Ratterree officiating. Recorded song selections were “Amazing Grace,” “The Old Rugged Cross,” and “Precious Memories.” Pallbearers were Lucas Kelley, Jacob Kelley, Bryan Kelley, Darin Walker, Ethan Kelley and Doug Walker. Burial was in the Rock Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove, Mo.
