Dorothy Ragsdale

Dorothy Nora Ragsdale, 91, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 8, 1921, in Texas County, daughter of Fred and Macy Lough Lybyer. She and Warren Ragsdale were married July 26, 1941, in Bentonville, Ark. He died Dec. 9, 2004.

She grew up and attended school in the Dykes community. She graduated from Houston High School in 1939 and attended college for one year following her graduation.

She enjoyed doing needlework, crocheting, embroidery work, ceramics, painting pictures, all kinds of crafts and playing dominos with her friends and family. She and her husband, Warren, went on many four-wheeler rides.

She was a longtime member of the New Rock Springs Church in Texas County. She enjoyed attending services as long as her health permitted.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren; a brother, Rhea Lybyer; and a grandson, J.D. Ragsdale.

Survivors include a son, Larry Ragsdale of Cabool; two daughters, Carol Ann Freeman of Cabool and Nora Lou Gleason of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services were Friday, Dec. 21, at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Russell McDaris officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery.
