Firemen at the scene of an early Saturday fire on Pine Street in Houston.

Several area departments fought a house fire Saturday morning near Ozark and First streets in Houston.

A call at 214 Ozark came in at about 6 a.m. According to the report, the home was engulfed.

Authorities on the scene said the resident at the home — Charles M. Edwards Jr. — was not at home. He had gone to a local motel overnight after having problems with a breaker box.

The home is owned by Chance Drake, police said.

Several streets were blocked as firemen tackled the blaze. Houston volunteers were on the scene for several hours. The home is a total loss.
