Gearld “Jerry” Dean Hamilton, 82, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at his home in Cabool.
He was born April 12, 1930, in Simmons, son of Eckle and Faye Odle Hamilton. He and Dorothy Marie Guinn were married Sept. 13, 1953.
He joined the Navy in 1947 and served in the Korean War. After leaving the Navy, he had many different jobs. When he was disabled in 1968, he took up fishing, camping and gardening full time.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy; his parents; and four brothers, Robert “Buck”, Lloyd “Short”, James “Jim” and Steve.
Survivors include four children, Martin of Plato, Gerald of Cabool, Jeff of Indiana, Pa., and Susan of Cabool; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation was under the direction of Elliot-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home.
