Sales tax revenue was down in Houston during the latest monthly distribution.

Sales tax revenue collected in Houston dropped slightly in the latest monthly distribution by the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The tally from a one-cent sales tax was $57,753, which is down $1,234 from the same period a year ago. For the year, collections are nearly unchanged. The total is $595,391, which is up $5,104 from a year ago.

Merchants also collect two quarter-cent sales taxes for transportation, sidewalks and utility work. Each contributed about $14,077, which is down about $485 each. An eighth-cent sales tax for debt repayment on a fire truck contributed $7,039.
