Inclement weather

Updated at 8 a.m. Christmas Day: There will be a white Christmas in Texas County…maybe, the National Weather Service says.

The latest forecast data has shifted the track of the system to the southeast part of the state. That suggests the heaviest snow will remain south of the Missouri Ozarks and impact northern Arkansas and southeast Missouri.

The National Weather Service office in Springfield said early Tuesday morning the heaviest snow will be south and east of Texas County today and tonight.

The weather service says:

•Wind chill values will fall into the lower teens and single digits tonight and early Wednesday.

•Wind gusts of 30 to 35 miles per hour will cause the blowing and drifting of snow where heavier snow occurs.

•There will be hazardous travel conditions. Roadways will be snow covered and blowing snow will make clearing roads difficult.
