Unemployment dropped to 6.9 percent in December, the Missouri Department of Economic Development reported.

Texas County’s unemployment rate fell two-tenths of a percentage in December from the previous month, the Missouri Department of Economic Development.

The rate was 6.9 percent.

According to the report, the civilian labor force was 10,736, and jobless totals stood at 740.

Other area counties and their unemployment rates: Douglas, 7.5; Howell, 6.6; Shannon, 11; and Wright, 8.5.

The rate in south-central Missouri was 7.5 percent, unchanged from November.
