Sales tax revenue was down in Houston during the latest monthly report, the Missouri Department of Revenue reports. 

Revenue from half-cent sales taxes collected by merchants in Texas County declined about 3 percent in 2012 from the previous year, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The tally on each was about $78,000 during the last monthly distribution of the year.

For the year, each tallied about $924,000, which is down more than $31,000 each.

The funds are used for debt repayment, operations and maintenance.
