Numerous investigations were handled during the last week by the Houston Police Department. One stop led to a Taser being deployed.

The following are other matters recently dealt with by Houston police:

Jan. 3

––Vikki L. Hebert, 41, of 15104 Hazelton Dr. at Summersville, was issued a citation on charges of stealing under $500 after being observed shoplifting toilet paper from the Houston Dollar General.

After being notified of the incident, an officer located and cited Hebert at a gas station.

Jan. 12

––After observing a white Buick sedan cross the centerline multiple times on U.S. 63 at about 1 a.m., an officer followed the car and pulled it over on Highway B just east of 63.

After making contact with the driver, the officer smelled marijuana and conducted an investigation in which marijuana and smoking devices were found. The officer also smelled alcohol.

As a result, three people in the vehicle received citations. Ian M. Bacich, 19, of St. Louis, was cited on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, minor in possession of alcohol by consumption and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. Two passengers in the car were also cited for minor in possession of alcohol by consumption: Kaylyn M. Bacich, 20, of St. Louis, and Lance M. Kiser, 18, of Marshall.

Jan. 15

––Nathan F. Box, 27, of 16019 Brown Road at Elk Creek, was issued a citation for failure to register a motor vehicle after a traffic stop on U.S. 63 at about 9 p.m.

An officer made the stop after observing an orange Chevrolet HHR traveling at a high rate of speed. After making contact with the driver – Box – the officer determined that the vehicle had expired tags.

––Myron W. Shackelford, 64, of 17381 Freedom Road at Willow Springs, was arrested for having an active capias warrant for DWI (aggravated offender) and failure to register a motor vehicle. An officer arrested Shackelford at the Missouri Private Probation office in Houston after a caseworker who was working with him there ran a check on him that revealed the warrant.

Shackelford was taken to the Texas County Jail.

Jan. 16

Roy L. Click, 47, of 111 Sherrill St. at Licking, was charged with third-degree assault and private peace disturbance following an incident at the Missouri Private Probation office in Houston.

An officer was dispatched to the location after a report was received of a disturbance taking place there. A probation worker told the investigating officer that he had been discussing conditions of bond/electronic monitoring requirements with Click and that Click become irate and threw an object that hit him.

Click reportedly left the scene, and was eventually located and brought back to Houston by Licking police. Click’s probation officer said that steps would be taken to have his bond revoked, according to a report.

Jan. 18

––A representative of a car dealership on South Sam Houston Blvd. reported that tires and wheels had been stolen off of a car on the lot. There are no suspects.

––Shirley H. Dean, 75, of 6757 Lundy Road in Houston, was issued a citation for failing to yield right of way following an investigation of a two-car crash at about noon at First and Mill streets.

Jan. 19

––Nina C. Steelman, 43, of 111 Old Yukon Road at Raymondville, was issued a citation for failing to stop at a posted stop sign after an officer observed a gold Chevrolet S-10 pickup turn from Hawthorne Street onto Airport Road without stopping.
