Sales tax revenue in Houston during 2012 was nearly unchanged from the previous year, according to a tally from the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Sales tax revenue collected by Houston merchants was nearly unchanged in 2012 compared to the previous year, the Missouri Department of Revenue reports.

Retailers collected $650,143 from a one-cent sales tax, which was up $677 from the same period a year ago.

The last check of the year was $54,753, which was down $4,427 from the same monthly period a year ago.

Two quarter-cent sales taxes — for streets, sidewalks and utility work — totaled $157,148 each. That’s up $1,113 on each for the year.

An eighth-cent sales tax for debt repayment on a fire truck generated $78,572 for the year.
