Steven Everett Adams died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at his home following a battle with cancer.

He was born June 13, 1952, in Houston, son of Everett and Mary Adams.

He graduated from Houston High School in 1970. He earned a degree in psychology and philosophy from Southwest Missouri State University.

He served in the Air Force and developed a lifelong love with Thailand.

He retired as deputy warden from Ozark Correctional Center in 2010 after working 26 years there.

He and his wife, Barbara, were avid scuba divers. They enjoyed exploring the ocean. He was part of the trivia tem Mensa Mafia.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; a son, Sean Pender of Morrisville, N.C.; four grandchildren; a sister, Beth Rime; and many other family members, friends and colleagues.

His body was cremated and ashes spread into the sea. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
