Heavy rain packed with strong winds swept through Texas County on Tuesday, causing flooding and storm damage.
Summersville firefighters reported they found storm damage north of Summersville on Highway K. A family had gone to the basement before a barn and home were destroyed. Volunteers walked into the site and found the family safe. Power lines were downed.
At the Brushy Creek low-water bridge north of Grand Avenue, a water rescue took place when a woman’s vehicle stalled. A deputy called for barricades.
Areas around Houston received about three inches, sending the Big Piney River rolling. A flood advisory for southern Texas County remains in effective until 9 a.m.
