David Kruse

David Lee Kruse, 60, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, following a battle with cancer.

He was born Oct. 8, 1952, in Big Creek, son of David and Maxine Surby Kruse. He and Carmen Truitt were married in 1974. He and Shelly Combs were married in 1995.

He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at a young age and was baptized at Big Creek. He graduated from Houston High School in 1970 and received a master’s degree in agriculture education in 1985 from the University of Missouri.

He worked various jobs throughout his life including. He taught agriculture at Cabool and Willow Springs schools. He was a barn inspector 18 years with the City of St. Louis Health Department. He was also a real estate agent and owner of D&D Diesel Repair Shop. After retiring in 1998, he worked on the family dairy farm outside of Willow Springs.

He became a chaplain for Texas County Memorial Hospital. He loved sharing Jesus to those he met as well as spending time with friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Shelly, of the home; two daughters, Sheila Davis of Springfield and Andrea Kruse of Cabool; a son, Adam Kruse, of Springfield; an adopted son, Mackenzie Wagner of Mountain View a brother, Gary Kruse of Elk Creek; a sister, Elaine Burns of Rogersville; and many extended family members and friends.

Services were Saturday, Feb. 23, at Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home with Rex Self officiating. Burial was in Cabool Cemetery.
