Former Houston High School football coach Wes Beachler is on the move. Again.
Beachler, who led the Tigers to consecutive state semifinal appearances in 2005 and ’06 before resigning, was named the new Republic football coach on Tuesday.
Republic is the third stop for Beachler since leaving Houston. He was the head coach at Springfield Parkview before spending the last two seasons at Nevada, Mo.
Known for turning around struggling programs, Beachler inherited a winless Nevada team in 2010 and guided the team to a combined 14-7 mark, including 8-3 in 2012. He led Parkview, which had lost 56 consecutive games, to the 2010 playoffs.
Beachler will reunite with Chance Winstrom at Republic. Winstrom, the school’s superintendent, was the Parkview principal during Beachler’s tenure there and is also a former principal at Nevada.
“What made him stand out was that, at the three schools he was at before, they struggled but he turned them around in a fairly short time period,” Republic athletic director Greg Garton told the News-Leader.
