Scholarships are available to southern Missouri students through a foundation.

The Community Foundation of the Ozarks is offering a record number of scholarships for students across southern Missouri interested in pursuing advanced education opportunities.

This year’s scholarship awards and renewals, which are made possible by generous donors, are valued at nearly $958,000 –– up from more than $908,000 awarded in the 2012 scholarship cycle. These represent more than 300 named scholarship funds, with many awarding multiple scholarships to students across southern Missouri.

Information about the scholarship opportunities is available at, where students and parents can search for scholarships by city of residence. Students also can contact their high-school counseling offices. Application deadlines vary, with the earliest due on March 1, 2013.

The CFO scholarships offer a wide range of opportunities for students attending public or private colleges and universities, medical or nursing schools, or vocational-technical education. Many funds are designated for students from specific high schools by donors and alumni giving back to their communities. Amounts range from $250 to $5,000 per school year, with many of the scholarships renewable for up to four years.

“We acknowledge our many donors who so generously support outstanding students in southwest Missouri,” Scholarship Coordinator Judith Billings said. “Continued double-digit growth for CFO-administered scholarships means additional opportunities for students, helping to ensure their future in a global society.”
