Counterfeit bills have been reported Monday in Texas County.

A county woman reported to the Texas County Sheriff’s Department that she has received no compensation for an expensive dog that she sold and shipped to a man in Maryland.

A written report submitted by a deputy says that a 66-year-old Mountain Grove woman called the TCSD on March 15 to report a stolen dog.

The woman told the officer that she sells dogs and had shipped a French Mastiff to a man in Temple Hill, Md., but the man had never paid for it.

She said the man did not want to use PayPal, but bank account information exchanged between the parties in the transaction was faulty.

Attempts to reach the man, made by both the woman and authorities, failed. The Temple Hill Police Department was contacted for possible verification of his residence and contact information, and a report was sent to the Texas County prosecutor regarding potential charges. Investigation of the matter continues.
