Unemployment increased to 7.5 percent in January in Texas County, the Missouri Department of Economic Development reported.

Texas County’s unemployment rate increased four-tenths of a percentage point in January from the previous month, the Missouri Department of Economic Development said.

The rate was 7.5 percent in the county.

According to the report, the civilian labor force in the county was 11,006, and the jobless total was 824.

Other counties and their unemployment rates: Douglas, 8.4; Howell, 7.3; Shannon, 11.5; and Wright, 7.5.

The rate in south-central Missouri was 8 percent, which was up five-tenths of a percentage point from the previous month, the state reported.
