Hunter education classes are planned for Texas County. (Missouri Department of Conservation photo)

A hunter education and safety class is from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, March 29, and from 8:30 a.m. to finish on Saturday, March 30, at Legacy Bank and Trust, 10603 Highway 32, Plato.

Completion of the class is required to buy a firearms hunting permit.

Upon successful completion of the class, the certificate to obtain your firearms hunting permit will be issued just in time for the spring turkey season. Minimum age is 11 years old as of March 30.

Early registration is recommended as some pre-class information is required for the conservation department, and to assure there is enough printed material available.

Instructors are from the Missouri Department of Conservation and the National Wildlife Turkey Federation. There is no cost.

Contact Legacy Bank and Trust in Plato at 417-458-4222 and ask for Stacey or Renee to sign up.

Lunch on Saturday will be courtesy of Legacy Bank.
