High school juniors from across Intercounty Electric’s service territory competed March 23 for an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C

The top three essay winners from each school gathered in the auditorium at the cooperative’s Licking office and were interviewed on topics relating to rural electric cooperatives and Intercounty. One student from each school received a trip to Washington, D.C., and the two runners-up received an all-expenses-paid trip to a leadership conference in Jefferson City.

First-place winners for the trip to the nation’s capitol in June were: Caroline Dunn, Houston; Sydney Gunter, Licking; Jalen Supancic, Plato; Taylor Coen, Cabool; Sarah Chase, Salem; Katie Stoops, Summersville; Taylor Strain, Rolla; Kelly Ramaeker, Mountain Grove; and Nick Burns, St. James.

Runner-up winners receiving the trip to Jefferson City were: Ely Todd and Dakota Hugenot, Houston; Alexandra Penn, Licking; Heather Murry and Blaine Davis, Plato; Madison Bennet, Cabool; Thomas Grant and Lorraina Roderick, Mountain Grove; Jennifer Holmes, Salem; Levi Mahan and Jaret Holden, Summersville; Clarissa Light and Emma Adams, Rolla; and Amie Diestelkamp and Taylor Busche, St. James.
