Loraine Garner

Gladys “Loraine” Garner, 88, died Monday, March 11, 2013, at Cox South following a short illness.

She was born Aug. 11, 1924, in St. Louis County, daughter of the late Stephen Grover and Lola Blanch McChord Kinslow. She and Linley D. Garner Jr. were married Jan. 3, 1943, at Marvin Park United Methodist Church in St. Louis.

She was an active member of the Licking United Methodist Church. She worked as a riveter at Curtis Wright before becoming a full-time housewife and mother. She loved tending her roses.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Richard and Kathleen Garner; three grandchildren; and a brother, Edward “Bud” Kinslow.

Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Linely; five children, Shirley Welker of St. Peters, Judi Grafer of Owensville, Janet Garner of Maplewood, Terry Garner of Katy, Texas, and Sherry Tallent of Leasburg; two brothers, William Kinslow of Des Loge and Doug Kinslow of St. Charles; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Services were Friday, March 15, at United Methodist Church in Licking with Pastor Robb Webster officiating. Burial was in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in St. Ann under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
