Deputies with Texas County Sheriff's Department handled several investigations during the last week. 

The following are other matters dealt with last week by the sheriff’s department:

March 7

––An officer reported that on Feb. 7 he had investigated a report of theft at a Lilly Road residence at Houston.

The officer stated that a woman representing the bank that owns the property told him that a 12-foot by 16-foot wooden building valued at $2,895 and a livestock waterer valued at $665 had been stolen. The officer photographed tire tracks and a damaged fence. There are no suspects.

––An officer reported that on March 2 a citation was issued to a woman who tried to deliver chewing tobacco hidden inside a deodorant container to an inmate at the Texas County Jail. Cited was Kristin G. Norris, 30, of 250 Forest Drive in Houston.

March 8

––A man called to report a trailer parked at the intersection of Oscar Road and Sackett Road.

An investigating officer stated that the trailer had no plates and its VIN was not on file. Dispatch logged the VIN for future reference.

––An officer reported that on Feb. 27 he had investigated a report of assault at a Highway 181 residence at Cabool.

The officer stated that after his investigation, two citations for third-degree domestic assault were issued to Lerenda L. Smith, 23, of 1217 Blair St. at Cabool. Smith is alleged to have punched a 48-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man.

March 9

––An officer reported that on Feb. 28 he issued a citation for third-degree domestic assault to Paul E. Groucher, 44, of 12383 Highway 32, at Roby, after Groucher allegedly punched his 47-year-old girlfriend.

March 10

––An officer reported that he arrested a 21-year-old man at Highway 137 residence at Licking after the man’s mother called to report that he was fighting with his father and breaking things in her house.

The officer stated that when he arrived at the scene, the man made threats and made a motion to throw an object at him. The officer then deployed his Taser, and the man become compliant and was taken into custody. He was transported to the Texas County Jail, but family members did not wish to pursue charges.

––An officer reported that on Feb. 26 he had responded to a report by a 73-year-old Raymondville man that three horses had been abandoned at his Fisher Drive property.

The man reportedly told the officer that the horses had been left in the small, mostly dirt pasture in January by a 24-year-old Dixon man. The officer stated that the horses appeared in poor health, and were determined to be in dire need of food and water after being examined by veterinary personnel.

A report about the incident was sent to the county prosecutor.

––An officer reported that on March 2 he had been dispatched at about 10:30 p.m. to a Colburn Road residence at Cabool to assist an ambulance crew with a woman reportedly having a seizure.

While at the scene, the officer observed marijuana and a smoking device in a car, and subsequently issued citations for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia to Jeremy L. Mullins, 33, of 514 Randel Road at Mountain Grove.

March 11

––An officer reported that on March 8 he was dispatched to an Old Salem Road residence at Licking regarding a report of theft.

A 51-year-old woman living there told the officer that several items with a total value of $510 had been swiped, including 10 gold necklaces valued at $400. The woman named another Licking woman as a suspect. The officer made contact with the suspect, who denied stealing anything. Investigation of the matter continues.
