A seat is available for Texas County on a board that serves the interests of seniors.

Candidates from Texas County are sought to serve as a board member for the Southwest Missouri Office on Aging.

Board members serve three-year terms; responsibilities of the board members include budgeting all federal dollars, as well as reviewing and adopting all policies relating to aging programs. Each of the 17 counties served by Southwest Missouri Office on Aging is represented on this volunteer board of directors.

Any resident of Texas County may file a declaration of intent. Candidates must be willing to devote time to learning about the agency, have a sincere interest in programs for the aging, attend monthly meetings in Springfield and attend periodic training sessions Although expenses are reimbursed, this is a volunteer position. The incumbent is Barbara Beasley.
