Heavy rains beginning early Thursday have flooded and closed portions of six roadways in Texas County.
Brushy Creek is roaring through Emmett Kelly Park and over Walnut Street in Houston, closing the roadway near the intersection of Oak Hill Drive.
In other parts of county, the Missouri Department of Transportation reports the following highways are closed to traffic:
- Highway BB north of Houston since 9 a.m.
- Highway ZZ southwest of Bucyrus since 9 a.m.
- Highway EE in the southern part of the county since 9:25 a.m.
- Highway UU at Chapel Road near the Jacks Fork River since 10:15 a.m.
- Highway MM near U.S. 60 at Dunn since 10:20 a.m.
The inclement weather also postponed sporting events. Baseball, tennis and track events at Houston High School were all called off.
