Daniel K. Corwin

A St. Louis man faces multiple charges after fleeing from and assaulting multiple officers Friday night in Texas County.

Daniel K. Corwin, 48, of 453 Shadowridge Road in Ballwin, is held with a $2 million bond in the Texas County Jail following his arrest around 9:15 p.m. He is charged with felony resisting arrest by fleeing, second-degree felony assault on a police officer with injury, two counts; and misdemeanor assault on a police officer, one count.

Corwin was arrested after a set of circumstances that began a week earlier.

On April 19, authorities said Corwin was a passenger in a vehicle that passed through a checkpoint at Highways N and AM in northern Texas County. During the stop, officers became suspicious of a male passenger and asked for identification. The man was unable to produce any, but did provide information about his supposed identity. A trooper later made contact with Corwin’s brother and determined Corwin had given false information at the checkpoint.

On Friday night, the same trooper, who was off duty, noticed the vehicle traveling in front of him in the Licking area. Corwan was inside. The trooper called on-duty officers, and the team pulled the car over on U.S. 63 just north of Houston.

As Corwin was confronted and exited the car to be restrained, he ran into a rocky area in adjacent woods. A scuffle ensued during which multiple officers sustained minor injuries before Corwin was ultimately apprehended.

A Texas County Sheriff’s Department deputy assisted in the arrest. A computer check of Corwin revealed he was wanted on a felony warrant from Jefferson County on charges of first-degree property damage and felony warrants from the St. Louis County Police Department.
