Mavis Irene Cook8, 73, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, following a long illness.
She was born Oct. 17, 1939, in Alley Springs, daughter of Walter F. Sanders and Gladys Younger Sanders. She married John Charles and following his death, married Bill D. Cook on Sept. 16, 1983.
She was a previous member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Eminence. She was baptized by the Rev. Bud Younger while attending there.
She enjoyed big family gatherings, laughter with friends, gospel music and attending church services. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; and a brother, Donald Sanders in 1979.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Cook of Herber Springs, Ark.; a daughter, Sharon Cooper of Henderson, Ark.; two grandchildren; three brothers, Clinton Sanders of Birch Tree, Denny Sanders of Jonesburg and Kenny Sanders of Eminence, Missouri; and two sisters, Ilene Cooper of Steelville and Madrene Pulliam of Birch Tree.
Services were Saturday, April 6, at Countyline Pentecostal Church in Birch Tree with the Rev. David Lloyd officiating. Burial was in Oak Forest Cemetery under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home.
