The Houston tennis team was headed toward its first victory of the season when rain halted Monday’s match with Liberty.

The Tigers won four of the six doubles matches for a 4-2 advantage. Maya Brown, Lizzy Swindell and Alexis Adey were all 8-5 winners. Haley Kelley was victorious 8-1.

Brown and Todd led the doubles match 3-1 when the inclement weather arrived.

“It was unfortunate we couldn’t finish the match,” HHS tennis coach John Jordan said. “Overall, we felt this was the best we had played as team.”

Last Thursday, Houston lost 8-1 to Willow Springs. Eli Todd’s 8-3 victory was the lone win for the Tigers.
