Revenue from a one-cent sales tax collected by Houston merchants dropped about 5 percent from the same period a year ago, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.
The tally was $55,410, which was down $2,747 from the same period a year ago. For the first quarter of the year, $166,642 has been collected. That’s up $2,912 from the same period a year ago.
Merchants also collect two quarter-cent sales taxes for roads, sidewalks and utilities. Each totaled $13,087, which is down $588 each.
An eighth-cent sales tax for debt repayment on a fire truck totaled about $6,544.
