Texas County ranked first in the spring turkey season in Missouri. The season ended Sunday.

Texas County ranked second Monday in the state in the spring turkey season kill, according to a tally from the Missouri Department of Conservation.

The total was 451. Leading the state is Franklin County with 567. Other top counties in the state: St. Genevieve, 419; and Callaway, 396.

In the first week last year, Texas County hunters bagged 433. The total for the 2012 season was 803.

Statewide, the count stood at 21,901.

The season ends May 5.
