Ervin Edward Brown, 73, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Benchmark Health Care in Festus.

He was born Aug. 9, 1939, in Hartshorn, son of George Washington and Arvilla Edgmond Brown. He and Carol Cross Brown were married in 1962. He later married Gerry Green Brown in 1977.

He served in the Army from Dec. 13, 1962, to Dec. 10, 1964. He also served in the Army Reserves until 1968.

He received the Lord in his life before his passing. He loved to bowl and enjoyed country living. He moved to Edgar Spring after his retirement and lived there until a stroke put him in the hospital and nursing center.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gerry; his parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Denver Brown; and a sister, Marjorie Heiney.

Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Banks, of Manchester; two sisters, Thelma Briggs of Hartshorn and Fern Boland of St. Louis; seven brothers, Earl Brown of Denver, Colo., Everett Brown of Bland, Norman Brown of Desoto, Lonnie Brown of Cuba, Mo., and Judy Meekins, Stanley Brown and Clifford Brown of Salem; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

Graveside services were Wednesday, May 29, in Antioch Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Steelman officiating. Services were under the care of Bradford Funeral Home.
