The Houston High School baseball team is hosting a car wash and serving food Saturday at Romines Motor Co. to raise funds to attend team camp in Georgia.
The car wash is 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the parking lot outside the building. Donations will be accepted.
Meals of grilled hamburgers or hot dogs will be available to purchase. They will include chips and a drink.
Also at the event, HHS players and coaches will participate in a dunking booth.
Proceeds from the day will help send 16 players to the David Beasley Baseball Camp on the campus of Berry College in Rome, Ga. It will cost more than $5,000 to send the team, which held a bake sale last weekend, to the camp for the second year. The camp is June 16-19.
Beasley is the head coach of Berry’s Vikings squad. A former all-American, he has coached five players selected in the Major League Baseball draft.
