The Houston branch of the Texas County Library has undergone a remodeling. New tile is in place, new drywall and paint applied, as well as an employee bathroom and kitchen area created. A children's area also is under development. A new branch at Summersville will be completed later this summer.

The new children’s section at the Texas County Library in Houston has been completed.

The children really like the new colorful area designed for them. We are working to weed out old nonfiction books within the entire library district as required for our nonfiction collection development grant. If anyone has a suggestion or request for a nonfiction book, please let us know since we will be purchasing books for this grant in June. Check out the books we have placed for sale in the Library in Houston and FOL groups in other branches. . There are many older biographies for sale.

We will probably be opening the new Summersville Library in early July. There is significant lead time required for the custom-designed granite top for the circulation desk. Construction should be finished in about two-three weeks. During the time we are waiting on the circulation counter top we will be moving in furniture, bookcases and books. There is a Beatrix Potter mural to be installed in the children’s area. The City of Summersville and Summersville Friends of the Library are planning a grand opening.
