Sales tax revenue reported in Texas County in 2014 hit a new benchmark: More than million. Texas County has collected a sales tax since the early 1980s.

Sales tax revenue collected by merchants in Texas County increased about 10 percent during the last monthly distribution, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Revenue from three, half-cent sales tax generated about $63,612 each. That’s up about $5,770 on each from the same period a year ago. The funds are used for debt repayment, maintenance and general operations.

For the first four months of the year, about $301,611 has been collected. That’s up about 2 percent from the same period a year ago.
