Sales tax revenue reported in Houston was up, according to the latest monthly distribution.

Revenue from a one-cent sales tax collected by Houston merchants jumped about 10 percent from a year ago, according to the latest month distribution from the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The total was $52,350, a jump of about $4,752 from a year ago. For the first four months of the year, $218,991 was collected. That’s up $7,664.

Retailers also collect two quarter-cent sales taxes for sidewalks, streets and utility needs. Each totaled $12,079, which was up about $532 from the same period a year.

An eighth-cent sales tax for retirement of debt on a fire truck totaled $6,040.
