Deputies with Texas County Sheriff's Department handled several investigations during the last week. 

The following reports were generated last week by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department.

•An officer responded April 25 at about 9 p.m. to a report of assault at a Highway 32 property at Licking.

The officer reported that a 53-year-old man and his 28-year-old son were cutting pine poles on the property of the man’s 27-year-old son. The man and the older son said the younger son become angry and assaulted them. The younger son told the officer the other two were stealing from him and had assaulted him. The officer stated that both sons had visible injuries near their eyes.

A report was sent to the county prosecutor for review.

•An officer responded April 21 at about 4 a.m. to a report of a tractor being driven on Burch Road at Solo. The man who called in the report stated it was unusual for a tractor to be on the road at that time of night. The officer was unable to locate it.

•An officer was dispatched at about 5:30 p.m. April 27 to a Ketchum Road residence at Licking regarding a reported domestic dispute. A 23-year-old woman at the location told the officer her mother’s 54-year-old boyfriend had choked her. The officer stated the boyfriend told him he wanted her out of the house, and that a male witness indicated he had seen the man choking and punching the woman.

A photograph was taken of marks on the woman’s neck. A report was sent to the county prosecutor, and the man was arrested and taken to the Texas County Jail pending formal charges of second-degree assault.

•An officer was dispatched at about 4:45 p.m. April 26 to a Highway B residence at Raymondville regarding a reported theft. A 35-year-old woman living there told the officer that three car audio amplifiers with a total value of $320 had been swiped. There are no suspects.

•An officer was dispatched May 2 at about 7:25 a.m. to a Boiling Springs Road residence at Licking regarding a reported domestic dispute. A 25-year-old woman living there told the officer that she and her 23-year-old boyfriend had woke up in a bad mood and started fighting. Neither person wanted to file charges.

•Shaun Smith, 34, of 8205 Northview Road, Lot 34, at Houston, was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia on April 23.

An officer cited Smith after being dispatched to his trailer home to assist the Division of Family Services in an investigation of child abuse and drug use in the home. During the investigation, several items associated with drug use were found.

•Officers were dispatched April 27 at about 9:45 p.m. to a Spring Creek Road residence after a man who lives there reported that a man had come to his house and stated his truck was stuck in the mud and he needed to use the phone. An investigating officer reported that the suspect wasn’t found, but a truck was seen stuck on a logging road.
