R&S Coins, a family-owned-and-operated rare coin store, has been doing business out of Cabool for nearly two decades.
With its recent relocation to a 2,500 square foot facility on 330 Ozark Ave., it has become the largest coin dealer in the south-central Missouri region.
The owner, Sylvia Bachelor, has been there from the beginning in 1996. Bachelor has enjoyed collecting coins since he was young. His enthusiasm combined with a friendly temperament has made R&S Coins a resounding success, as clientele visit from up to 80 miles away.
It has even stayed strong in the face of Internet competition such as eBay, which Bachelor proclaims is “not a threat.” R&S Coins has a presence on eBay as well, but does only a tiny fraction of its business online, he said.
The store has recently added some space-themed collectable coins, one related to the 1969 Moon landing and another the ’75 Apollo-Soyuz mission.
Bachelor’s personal favorite items are mostly gold coins and bars. He keeps a personal collection as well as his business inventory.
