Morris Township lost its funding Friday that is funneled through the county to the government entity.

The Texas County Commission revoked its distribution of funding to Morris Township after the entity failed to make required employee withholding payments to the federal government.

The decision came last month, and was effective Friday.

The commission distributes monies from the state based on the number of miles within each of the county’s 17 townships. It requires a contract with each board, and that agreement was revoked with Morris Township because of IRS issues.

The IRS matter was discussed May 15 during a meeting of the county commission.
