The Houston City Council approved plans Monday to increase its contribution on a project that will construct a turning lane at Lilly Avenue and West Highway 17.
The joint Missouri Department of Transportation and City of Houston project will likely be completed this summer as other improvements are made to West Highway 17, including paving and the addition of shoulders.
Bids were higher than expected for the turn lane.
City council members authorized spending $25,000 on the project.
In other matters, members:
—Approved an ordinance that will send delinquent utility debt monthly to a collection agency. Previously, it was sent quarterly.
—Authorized swimming passes for the Texas County Library’s summer reading program.
—Took no action on a German’s request to film in Houston as part of a project involving cyclists. The city has no laws requiring permission.
