The dates for the Texas County Fair were announced this week as catalogs outlining the event were distributed at locations throughout the county.

The event runs Wednesday, July 31, through Saturday, Aug. 3.

Here is the fair schedule:

4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, poultry, goats, sheep and rabbits check-in, as well as goats and sheep.

Here is the fair schedule:

  • Wednesday, July 31: horticulture, field crops, agriculture mechanics, home economics and junior fair entries will be accepted 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (youth only). Others, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Rabbits will be judged at 10 a.m.; goats at 5 p.m.
  • Thursday, Aug. 1: Dairy, beef and swine check-in at 9 a.m. Weigh in for beef and swine at 9 a.m. and ultrasounds for all market animals. Poultry show at 10:30 a.m. Horticulture, field crops, agriculture mechanics, home economics and junior fair judged. Sheep judged at 3 p.m.; kiddie show set for 6:30 p.m.  A sheep and goat fashion show follows the kiddie show.
  • Friday, Aug. 2: Swine will be judged at 9 a.m. following by market and breeding beef. Horticulture, field crops, agriculture mechanics, home economics and junior fair on display.
  • Saturday, Aug. 3: 9 a.m. dairy judged. A general awards ceremony follows it. The Stars Foundation will perform a musical production at 1:30 p.m. The junior livestock sale is at 4 p.m.
