Deputies with Texas County Sheriff's Department handled several investigations during the last week.

The following reports were generated last week by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 9:40 a.m. June 16 regarding a report of a man spotted in the woods behind The Animal Shelter of Texas County on Highway 17 east of Houston. The officer spoke to a representative of the shelter, who stated that a man dressed in black had been seen, but when an attempt was made to make contact with him, he ran away. The officer was unable to locate him.

•An officer investigated a report by a Licking man that on June 8 his Lanier Road residence had been burglarized. The man told the officer that swiped goods included 11 firearms, an unknown amount of ammunition, power tools, computer equipment and other items with a total value of $5,275.

There are no suspects, and investigation continues.

•A report was received on June 11 about marijuana growing in a wooded area behind a 53-year-old man’s Highway PP residence at Cabool. A deputy and an officer with the South Central Drug Task Force went to the location and seized three plants.

The resident has not yet been located for questioning.

•A 30-year-old Plato man could face numerous charges after an incident June 7 at a Peace Chapel Road property.

An investigating officer stated that the man had rammed his pickup into a 25-year-old man’s truck multiple times, and then got out and punched him numerous times. The suspect reportedly then grabbed the hair of a 26-year-old woman who was also in the vehicle, and dragged her out, ripping out a large spot of her hair in the process, according to a report.
